Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

As any economist will insist, economic behavior is about allocating limited resources - limited resources including giving your fellow Agents a hand with this or that aspect of preparing their Evokation or some other aspect of their involvement on Evoke. To that end and to promote the exchange of goods and services among Evoke Agents (strictly within the Terms of Service), I'd like to invite interested parties to step forward and bank some Evokians to make this market possible.

How can you spend an Evokian? It will be an in game currency that can be used to negotiate services that promote the accomplishment of Missions, Quests, and Evokations. They can not be used to pay for votes. When spending Evokian, you must notify this post with the number of Evokians spent and what they paid for. For example, I don't speak Hindi so I asked Agent Y to translate a doc**ent and I paid him 4 EVs for his time. Or I needed some expert advise from an engineering Agent on what it would take to manufacture this product for my Evokation - since it took her three hours to research it for me, I paid her 6 EVs.

What is the exchange rate of EVs to services? That will be decided by the marketplace, but paying someone a billion EVs will lead to runaway inflation (and now you owe the bank and thereby your fellow Agents a billion EVs).

Can I run a debt? Sure, but I would encourage other Agents who want to engage in the marketplace to check on someone's debt burden before accepting payment.

How long will this economic experiment go on? Provided it is promoting exchange and not inhibiting it and the moderators don't object, I will run it (with help if anyone wants to help) through May 12th.

How will the accounts be reconciled? Once a day, I will go through the days posts, tally up who gave what to whom, and a list of participating Agents with their EV balances will be posted.

How many EVs do I start with? None. The first time you exchange a EVs for a service, you will owe the bank that much.

What other rules apply? Beats me. This is an experiment. I invite others to help me refine the idea.

Cheers,
Mark

Great idea! A way to keep track of barter and exchange with a fungible credit. I haven't read everyone's comments, but a good next step might be a EVOKE version of Craig'sList (Alchemy's List??) where people could post the types of services they could offer.

And on that note, my offer of reading and offering constructive comments for EVOKATIONS is still going. More information is posted HERE - I want to help you succeed.

@Jen - thanks... I'll look at your post...

To All - if we go through on this where need to talk to the people who control the brand-able IP (Evoke etc) who hold trademark, copyright etc... because they may not want to open up this exchange or be linked to it with the evoke brand...

Lets here some thoughts on Names that are our own..what we can turn in to a EVOKATION ....and build the network beyond the game brand.... remember ..we don't own as a collective the brand Evoke....just liek Star War fans dont own that IP...*snarky smile*

so names ideas anyone...

Is this like how the first money was created?

Let there be a unit, that never expires, breaks or rots, that can be exchanged for less permanent objects... etc

@Jen - Yes on the Craigs List idea. We are toying around with how the best way to optimize it would be and appreciate all thoughts. Are your EVOKATION services pro bono or do you want me to attach a price? If pro bono, do you accept donations ... Thanks.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
