The biggest concern over here in Los Angeles would have to be an earthquake. There have been a few smaller ones the past few years, but if a stronger magnitude earthquake were to hit, it is very difficult to tell what buildings will stay standing, and how fast help can get to those who need it the most.
Something like Ushahidi would be a very powerful tool to have in such an emergency. Victims could use it to reach out for help. What I wonder though is if the program is ready to intake texts, mms messages, and emails in different languages. Not everyone speaks/writes in English, and many phones can be set to run in different languages. If Ushahidi has this capability, it would be very helpful to all residents of Los Angeles.
