I was really struck by this video. A minute-long look at what this girl must do every day to get clean water really puts things in perspective for me. Making the trek to collect water is usually the responsibility of women and girls. . In sub-Saharan Africa, for example, women and girls spend 40 billion hours a year collecting water, equivalent to a year's worth of labor by the entire workforce in France.
