Crisis Networking - Imagine

EVIDENCE TAG:
IMAGINE9
STATUS:

Who would YOU call on to make a heroic effort during a pandemic?

In this week's episode, Ember designed her own crisis networking solution. She asked ALL of the doctors in China to log into an emergency website to help run virtual Pearl River Flu clinics -- to answer medical questions from faraway patients, and analyze patient photos taken on mobile phones.

Ember's solution was an ideal emergency call to action. Why? Because:

  1. It's an easy-to-accomplish task,
  2. in a short amount of time
  3. that doctors already know how to do.

Ember played to the doctor's strengths -- and helped amplify their ability to help with an online network.

Not everyone has medical training. But everyone has a part to play during a crisis.

Your mission this week: Design an emergency call to action for a NON-medical community. Who else could log in and make a heroic effort during a pandemic outbreak?

Be creative: What could non-doctors do online during a pandemic to help? It can be anyone -- teachers, cooks, artists. Who else can you imagine saving the day during a pandemic?

Your objective:

It's the year 2011, and the next pandemic flu has just reached YOUR part of the world. You've been asked to organize one group of people online to do something that matters. Who are they, and what heroic effort will you ask them to make? Tell a story in a video or blog post about the crisis networking solution YOU devise.

This objective is worth +15 resourcefulness.

I would get togther food, water, and make a shelter in a place that protects them from illness, and make medicine that will stop this illness and share out food and water to people thta need it urgently!!!!! i would tell them to hope for the best and hope that the illness does not hit them. but prepare them selfs for the future too! and as the same as the others person tell them to start growing crops

i would get as much water and food as i can and get as much people as i can to a save place where they cant get sick.i would tell them to start preparing for the future by growing foods and starting a new community

If this actullay happened I'd take all of the food then split it evenly to everyone who needs it the most. if that doesnt work I'd tell everyone to try to grow some food to survive and hope for the best. communicating with the people and askijng them for some answers would help too. But i know that evoke wouldnt be destroyed.

Subject: Update for EBS on cellphones

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to update you all on the proposal I had for an emergency broadcast system that works on cell phones. We could have really used this during 9-11, right?

I forwarded this idea to a friend of mine that works in the (redacted), and she has informed me that this idea is now being considered for implementation. She said my reasoning is very much in line with mainstream thinking on terrorism, so it was a nice validation of the quality of education we are getting at Walden. I'm certain that without this degree process, the thought never would have occurred to me.

Best,
Mick

Mick... this is fantastic news. I hope you don't mind, but I forwarded your note on to our Associate Dean Dr. Gordon and program director, Dr. Larkin. Sometimes folks at their level only hear of problems and complaints, so it is nice for us to be reminded that our students also have great successes!

Thanks for letting us share in your success!

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
