A crash course in changing the world.
In the 2nd World War Brunswick had important weapons industry. There are many factories producing weapons and infantry maschines. Consequently Brunswick became a bombing target. On 14 Oct 1944 the Combined Bomber Offense CBO attacked Brunswick and destroyed 90% of all Buildings.
Today there are still remaining dud shots in the city, mostly underground. In WW2 these bombs were produced in mass and their quality couldn't be guaranteed. These bombs are highly dangerous. On 29. Mar 2012 such a bomb was detected and had to be defused. To minimize the risk over 1700 citizens had to leave their house and went to a safe area for one day. This 250 kilo bomb could be successfully defused. I have to mention that those bomb defusing are far away from safe. 2 Years ago in Göttingen, a city near Brunswick, a bomb defusing failed and several experts working on it died tragically.
