The Earth Nourishes Us
It is 2020 and I am eating a vegetarian meal prepared with only the ingredients grown in my own garden. This includes a range of greens, root vegetables, legumes, culinary herbs and other vegetables along with berries and maple syrup for dessert. Having raised a strong crop of soybeans, I have been able to make my own tofu, which provides protein for my meal. CSAs and Miracle Trees
I live in New England, but I work in Rwanda. So, I'll comment on the issues and solutions in both locations. In New England, the biggest challenge is eating locally, healthily. We live in a cold climate where the growing season is often less than 3 months long. So, eating locally all year round is a challenge. Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
