A crash course in changing the world.
Our apartment gets so hot and my flatmates run their fans continuosly (I'm in aus so it's still warm here). They don't like having their windows open as our inconsiderate landlords will not allow us to install flyscreen and flys and beetles fly in. I've been slowly training them out of wasting power on the fans and will some teamwork we've managed to find combinations windows being open and the correct venetion blind angles anto allow a sufficient breeze and still keep the bugs out.

Very small scale but applicable;
Living in a major city of a developed country hunger and food shortage is not something that a lot of my friends and family see, I am a nurse in an emergency department and I do see it. Our department sees a lot of patients with mental health and social issues that are homeless, unable to get food due to health reasons or spend what they do have on drugs. An aspect of aid that is really important is education; in some situations the local people can be taught the skills to continue an aid program with very little continuous input from the NPO meaning that the organisation can then provide more areas will their limited resources.
