Randall Scott Newnham's Page

In ten years, I would like to be a teacher. I can see myself teaching high school-age students social studies and incorporating social justice values and a games-based curriculum. When I think of rewarding work I could do, teaching always comes to mind. I like games, and the research I have seen (I have my wife, on her way to becoming a teacher, to thank for that!) has been mind-blowing. Jane McGonigal's TED speech was amazing, and I see myself wanting to move in this direction.

I chose the organization Afrigadget as my hero to shadow. I have always been a person who likes to do things with my hands, and seeing their site really inspired me. It is amazing what one can do with limited resources if you have the motivation to innovate. The fact that I saw a helicopter and arc welder built out of salvaged parts was amazing!
