Future Phoenix: Map of Urban Resilience Redesign

Below is the map that I created to show the future of Phoenix, Arizona from an urban resilience standpoint. As labeled, living spaces have been redesigned to better sustain life, portions of the city have been dedicated to local food production, the downtown area has implemented green rooftops, a section of the city has been dedicated to generating solar energy, a water reservoir has been established, the national park was expanded, economic growth has been encouraged near the airport, and…

Power Outage and Resilience in Arizona

I found the state of Arizona emergency response and recovery plan via the www.dem.azdema.gov site. It has a broad scope and covers nearly all kinds of natural disasters. Also, the plan includes measures to be taken in the event of terrorist and biological attacks.

Although I previous wrote about flooding being a potential natural disaster that could… Continue

Ushahidi for Arizona Flood Disasters

In Arizona, especially the urban Phoenix area, a potential natural disaster is flash flooding. Due to the general lack of precipitation and the costs involved in engineering infrastructures to mitigate flooding risks, Phoenix and its surrounding areas are poorly equipped to face flash flooding. In the time that I have been here, what would seem to be light sprinkling rain in other parts of the U.S. has caused tremendous flooding problems here. Hence, if a genuinely large and unexpected storm… Continue

Breaking: New Currency in the Works for Phoenix

Early this morning, a concealed group of traders gathered in downtown Phoenix, Arizona to begin negotiations on how to unveil their latest creation. These mysterious scientists have reportedly found a way to reclaim a natural resource that was previously abundant, but no longer exists anywhere in the world. They say it was once used to sustain all life on Earth, but now it will be a new form of currency for the city that will improve public health, spark innovation, and facilitate economic…

Water Crisis in Arizona and Solar Desalinization

Here in Arizona, the water crisis is an important issue that needs to be addressed today and continually addressed into the future. Arizona is home to the sixth most populated city in the U.S., the most populated university, and the…

Food Security and Arizona State University Initiatives

In the Phoenix, AZ, USA area, the biggest challenges to food security are urban development and drought. Food security crises could certainly be foreseeable in Phoenix's future. Fortunately, many citizens are already practicing general sustainable living and making sure to support local food providers. These actions, along with large-scale urban planning, are helping to reduce the risk of future food insecurity in Phoenix.

There are several excellent food security initiatives at… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
