Final Mission

WHICH great challenges and social problems should the EVOKE Network tackle next?

WHERE in the world should the network try to build up new EVOKE communities?

WHO would you encourage to play Season 2?

HOW would you change the game for Season 2?

WHAT new tools would you want as an EVOKE agent?

WHY would you come back for a second Season? What more would you want from the experience?

I think that the next great challenge EVOKE should address is the trafficking of…

Crisis Networking- Imagine 9

If I were to imagine a crisis situation in the future I would have to ask the best leaders to help me create balance again. I strongly believe that people who are leaders can do anything and that a strong leader is who I need by my side to help calm the storm while in a crisis. I would also want someone with a cool head who didnt let stress effect them negatively. To be safe I would have a world renowned doctor to assist me, depending on the crisis, and a great public speaker to help educate…

Crisis Networking- Act 9

The google emergency dark site was no longer available so I came up with a list of everything that I would include on my page.
-a basic survival needs kit (listing everything you would need)
-depending on situation a detail instruction manual on what to do/ not to do
-examples of proper behavior/ protocol in an emergency
-ways to assist those who cant help themselves (children/elderly)
-plan for evacuation if necessary

Urban Resilience- Act 7

After asking my neighbors about what they thought of Fort Myers', crisis plan, no one knew much of anything. They just assumed that an emergency would never happen to them and that if it did someone important would take care of it and show them what to do. The only thing I could get people to really talk about was the "hurricane evacuation" signs that direct people to higher ground in the case of a flood from a hurricane, and people only knew what they were because they had seen them while…

Urban Resilience- Learn 7

In the future, the main crisis I could see occurring is the lack/ scarcity of food and water. I think that this crisis should been expertly monitored over time and to be most effective a crisis communication plan should be established by the government. We learned about crisis communication plans in one of my cla**** and had the chance to make one ourselves and through this process I really came to realize how important it is to have something to go off of in a time of emergency.

IMAGINE 3

In the year 2020, we would be celebrating the 4th of July, however this holiday is now celebrated with a twist. All fireworks are equipped with a special panel that picks up both solar and lunar light. It is stored within the panel until the use of the firework. You would then be able to activate the panel's power through a remote detonating device to shoot it off. This new technology would reduce/ eliminate the use of black powder and other harmful chemicals to make the explosives.

ACT 2

A few weeks ago I actually did my speech in my public speaking class about making a home garden. I explained the importance of food security for the coming years and we did a hands on activity where the class got to plant their own basil seeds to start their home garden. I encouraged them to go home and use the knowledge that I provided and their new seedling to start their own garden and to show their friends. It was a great experience to see the excitement of the students who had grown…

IMAGINE 1

In 2020/ 10 years from now, I will be with my family, happily married, possibly with children. I would like to be working for social change locally by supporting food banks with my family and doing community outreach projects to teach my children the importance of social change.

IndigENOUS KNOWLEDGE- IMAGINE 8

In the year 2089 I will be 100 years old. My broadcast to the world would be to save what is left of the environment. 79 years into the future I think that the world will have lost its true beauty and as an elder of the world I would ask to save it. The world is a beautiful place full of amazing sights and it is up to the future generations to keep these things sacred.

INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE- LEARN 8

Through reading the various case studies I discovered the story of the Pilanesberg National Park in South Africa. This was extremely underprivileged and needed help to get back on its feet. In this area there is a beautiful ring of dormant volcanoes, so the government decided to make the area a national park, creating jobs, tourism and infrastructure for the failing community. This was a great idea in theory, however, the local indigenous tribes did not want to move from the area the…

Empowering Women-Imagine 6

In the year 2020 I would have empowered many women because they now run a successful textile business. After our mission leader showed them how to make the blankets she was able to teach them how to sew clothing and other items. The women now own a business and are empowered by the fact that they can do something important (clothe others!) and make a profit doing so. They feel important and can pass the business down to their own children to continue and expand.

Empowering Women-ACT 6

I think that empowering women is an extremely important task in today's world. With women being over 50% of our population, they should definitely be able to play a bigger role. I think that starting small is a great way to help women worldwide. For example, in high school I helped to make blankets for women in Cambodia, we then had a mission leader send them over and show the women how to make the blankets for a living and to make a profit. It was a great experience and very rewarding. For…

Future of Money- Learn

I think that the best way to shape the future of money is to develop a globally recognized currency. This would solve matters of opposing currency rates between countries and would allow anyone to spend money (stimulate the economy) in any country. However, in today's world I think the most interesting form of alternative currency is gift cards."Gift certificates and gift cards are considered a form of scrip, or alternative currency, and have become a major way consumers pay for goods and…

Future of Money- ACT

This was not this week, however I went to Europe last summer and was able to use a new currency and take part in bartering. This experience was so interesting because when we got off the plane we had to go to a currency office and exchange our US dollars into Euros. I think that it is so interesting that the majority of Europe was able to come together to use the same form of currency. On our trip we were also able to go to a small market and barter for little trinkets.

Water Crisis- ACT

My sorority is taking part in a campus wide water security program at the University of Florida called "How Low Can You Go?". We are all encouraged to take part in a competition to reduce the amount of water we consume. We are also encouraged to attend seminars and workshops on how to save more water to reduce the water crisis. To do my part I have worked to take faster showers, turning off the shower while shampooing and conditioning and to turn off the water while brushing my teeth.

Water Crisis- Water Innovation

LifeStraw is an organization that allows you to purchase a filtering straw online that sponsors an individual in an area that does not have clean water. This organization is working toward procuring clean water for everyone in a way that is affordable and effective. The straw is able to filter a maximum of 1000 liters of water, enough for one person for one year. LifeStraw is also partnered with LifeStraw Family which provides safe drinking water to a family of five for up to three years.

Power Shift- Innovation

Blue Flower is textile initiative aimed at supporting and empowering at-risk women and reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing. The company's founder, fashion designer Eileen Fisher, wants to set up sustainable value chains across the world. The initiative is designed to help poor communities develop low-impact bio-fibers sourced from second-hand clothing, replacing viscose, an artificial textile treated with toxic chemicals.

Power- New Innovation

If I had to use a more sustainable way to power something I used every day I would create a cell phone that was powered by any light source. A normal bedroom lamp or the sun could charge it so it would eliminate the use of power chords that take up so much electricity.

Food Security- A Meal From the Future

In the year 2050 I would be eating in my glass house on a floating table surrounded by my family. I would be eating only vegetables and fruits and they would be chemically enhanced to make sure that they are the most nutritious for my body. We would eat only locally grown food and grow most of our own food on the roof of our completely sustainable house.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
