My chosen piece of insight.

My chosen insight came from the "How Do People React In a Pandemic" section of Nieman's Guide. This section opened my eyes to the delicate balance between denial and panic, it is important that people are not allowed to deny the situation but while leading them away from denial we need to ensure we don't lead them into the arms of panic.…

Indigenous Australian fire practice in Western Arnhem Land

I found the following report on an Australian Education website savanna.cdu.edu.au

Evidence
To many it appears something of a paradox that the extensive burning evidenced by Leichhardt might now be considered best management practice for conservation in our national parks. Yet there is stark evidence. In the absence of systematic burning…

A new approach to community involvement in the management of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, North Queensland, Australia

I have chosen this as my community management success story because I live not far from the Great Barrier Reef. The full story is included in the link above.

I empowered a woman with a Micro-Loan through Kiva.org

Through my Micro-Loan lend I have empowered Fanny Enorasa to expand her Soap and Poultry business, which will improve the quality of life for her large family and help bring them out of poverty.

A doc**entary style TV Show that helps the fortunate help the less fortunate, Is it feasible?

Ok I have come up with an idea but I'm not quite sure how feasible it is, any input would be much appreciated.

Information: I live in Australia and in my local community I have identified that most of the population does not donate to charity because they don't believe their money goes towards the people but more towards the organisations that run the charity programs. One of the main reasons I have found for this common perception is the idea that "how can enough of…

A special day in 2020

It's the 27th of March 2020, my family and friends are gathered to celebrate Earth Night (10 hours between 8pm & 6am where everyone around the world turns their lights off and avoids using power) . Tonight we will cook dinner using a combination of the stove (powered by the roof mounted solar pannels) and a couple of HotBoxs (http://www.thehotboxco.com/). We are cooking under the candle light of recycled candles and the table is already adorned…

Dinner in 2020

It's 2020 and I'm making dinner for my partner and children, I explain to the children that thank-fully we will be having much the same dinner as I used to have when I was younger.

I continue to explain:

"You see kids... A decade ago there was allot of worry that we were killing our earth and that soon it would start affecting the production of foods and we would have to change what we eat, instead we found solutions to prevent this and some of those were by changing the way… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
