Evoking the EVOKE - lets collaborate for real! (an invitation to...)

Building on the food security inspiration, and the enormity and complexity of the task, I have a suggestion...

I have really gained a lot of insights into Africa and enjoyed reading peoples posts... and those un-imaginable insights that come from people who are there. This game is an interesting cross over between social networking / activism / on-line games / etc. It seems to me it can be taken to the next or another different…

Enable Food Security by including it in the "business case for sustainablity"

The hunger map of Africa sums the challenge up... and it leads me to think that what is needed is action.

From my perspective food, farming and production may seem a long way from the industry that I work in - community development and the built environment. Social Entreprenur - Taddy Bletcher

I know of a brilliant social entrepreneur in South Africa who has really done, and continues to do, some great work. His name is Taddy Bletcher. He founded CIDA http://www.cida.co.za which is a free university in Jo'burg. Quite something when you think about it. It is an amazing story how it started and has gone on to be extremely successful. Back in the year 2010 there was the idea put out there by the Nigerian Institute of Architects that Lagos could be re-invented as an Eco-Sustainable Mega City. As fate would have it I was invited to come and help facilitate this momentous and historic activity... and some started an online game called Urgent Evoke that helped us to radically expand our network (the rest is… Continue

Social innovation thoughts

I love the concept of social innovation... and it is challenging to translate it to the local context in Africa (i have not been there yet). The main thing for me that jumped out of these articles is to listen to the locals. I know a brilliant social entrepreneur in South Africa called Taddy Bletcher... this would be a good starting point. When I think about helping to re-inventing a city like Lagos, I am sure that he would have some very intelligent homegrown ideas.

The second thing… Continue
