"Since its inception in 1990, Water.org had helped hundreds of communities in Africa, Asia, and Central America gain access to safe water and sanitation. All of the projects we support are self-sustaining, with organizational and financial structures in place to allow communities to independently operate and maintain them. Projects have an active water committee governing the operation of the water system, and users paying a water bill to cover the costs of operating and maintaining the water… Continue

100 years from now, I would want to spread the knowledge that the problems our world faced in 2011, water and food insecurity, poverty, etc, are all things that are still happening today. It does not matter how far we will go in the future there will always be ways to make our world a better place. Never think your job is done, or there is nothing you cannot do, you have the means to make a difference whether big or small. In saying this, take care of each other, feed the hungry, give drink to… Continue

“After bitter struggles with official associations of physicians, traditional medicine people, mostly women, finally were able to organize joint meetings in which they shared their experiences and set up plans for collaboration. As a direct result, indigenous women benefitted immensely. Their involvement has been a key factor in cataloguing the plants, herbs, and practices, and in promoting the conservation and availability of curative products and practices. With the support of the National… Continue

An alternative idea to money we could use is the bartering system. With the present state of our economy, we could benefit from bartering, because people can start trading items, tasks, favors etc, for rewards. For example, what if a plumber is having trouble with the lights in their home, and in the same light, an electrician is dealing with a clogged drain, that regular store bought items can not relieve. The electrician and plumber can barter their skills in order to fix their current… Continue

In the year 2020 I am celebrating my 31st Christmas. On my christmas tree and around my home I have some sort of "glow in the dark" lights, which only glow in the evening. They will not be plugged in, which means they do not get their energy from electricity.

This week’s act puzzled me; it was hard for me to think of a way to enhance something I use on a daily basis. Since, we as Americans have a habit of showering everyday, I know that must take a toll on our water supply. If we could design “timed shower heads”, that would cut the water off after a certain time, and be available for use after a 15 minute (or whatever you set it to) interval. You would only have the option to set your timer to 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes. While I was writing this, I… Continue

I found this promoter for Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs), Grameen Shataki (GS): "...in Bangladesh using a market-based approach. GS has been successful because it has developed a unique approach involving soft credit for consumers, adaptive technology to lower costs, maximizing income generation, and effective after sales service including consumer friendly options such as a buy back system. GS has installed 100,000 Solar Home Systems as of June 2007, making Bangladesh, one of the… Continue

In 2020, hopefully meals in the future have gone back (which is not likely) to being freshly made, instead of being concerned about being made quick. I hope portion sizes have been cut in half, and healthy food stores, and restaurants have gone down in price, that way everyone can take advantage of eating healthier. I hope I will be eating vegetables grown from my own garden, but that something has been invented (that isn't harmful) that makes produce grow faster, and in any type of weather… Continue

To increase food security to one person, we could (just as the prompt said) learn how to grow our own food. This would be extremely helpful now especially with the weather crisis in Mexico, which is causing most of ur produce to go up. If we learned how to grow our own agriculture, we wouldn't have to spend so much money on purchasing produce in the supermarket.

What I found, is America is very wasteful, not just in the sense that we throw away food, but the reason behind throwing away food. Our portions our oversized and too much for people to eat which causes us to throw away food. We have never been in a situation where food is something we've been concerned about losing, so in return we do not appreciate it. The way to solve this, is to cut down portion sizes, that way people will most likely finish their meals, or leave only a tiny amount behind.

In 2020 I'll be 30 (about to be 31), in my dream world, at this time I have it all, or I'm pretty close to it. I love my job, because I make a difference, get paid well, have the ability to travel, and in some way, I am able to set my own hours. Everyone in my family is in a great place in their lives, and are where they want to be in 2020.

I chose to shadow Oprah. I am now following her on Twitter (I made one just so I could follow her). I chose her, because she doesn't just give money, she uses it to give people things they truly need, and to give them better lives.

My favorite secret was "think like a child...". It stuck out to me, because I feel like we're in a society that can't wait to grow up, that we take for granted the little things about being a child. I feel this is a tip that reminds us to not completely leave all of our childish ways in the past.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
