A crash course in changing the world.
This past few days we were learning about alternative currency. Basically, alternative currency means that we can only use the money in a certain place. Before this method was exist, there's a same method as this one called barter. Using this method we can trade others people's goods. For example you want a laptop from Mr. B, and Mr. A want to have 10 of your chicken. After both of you reach an agreement finally you can trade. The only disadvantages to this method is that we need to carry all the way ours good to be trade by other people. However, these day barter is not that popular anymore to fight poverty. There's a method called alternative currency. that will be a good idea for a small community to end their poverty. Below this is the Pros and Cons of the alternatives currency.
Pros:
There's a lot of good thing that come from alternative currency. This is a good method for a small town because then money value won't change that much. For example, if there is a change of value in the US, it won't affect this community that much since their currency don't depends on other country's value. The second example is it will decrease unemployment. since the money only circulate in that area they will have a bigger chance to get a job. Finally, Local people will buy their goods that’s produce by the local community. This happen because, for example we are from town A that use alternative currency. Other product can't be sell in town A because their currency is different than other country.
Cons:
For this Part, I think there's not really much disadvantages for the user. The first example is that We can't use the local money to the outside of the community. This is not really good for the user because they need to exchange their local money to the destination country's money.
Last class, I learned that birth affect the opportunity that you can get in life. For example, in english class we were suppose to line up based on our ages. Then each ones of us need to take a seat that already have either privilege or money on our chair. I think this is unfair, because using the age the oldest could have more opportunities to get a better one than the younger ones. In the end I get a privilege. The task is that we mustn't have that same thing like we have from the start. There's also a job for us if we want to get more money to buy other privilege. As time goes by the value of job starts to gets higher, the teacher said that whoever has the most privilege wins. So, our team try to get that opportunity to wins (since our privilege is less than the group). In the end our group lose because we're too late to chose who wants to sang the barney's song. From that activity The first thing that I learned is, alternative currency could help small community, since the money only circulate in that certain community and can't be used outside that community. In this case the money only valid inside our english class. Also I learned that Alternative currency is stable. For example If there's a change of value in money everywhere, the community won't really get affected by that because they use their own currency.
