I won a prize today for a contest that Bridges ran, and the first thing I did was to donate the prize back to Bridges for their students to have a prize draw, their staff to have something nice given to them, or to save as a Silent Auction prize. I did this the last time I won a prize and will probably always give them something back whenever I can. And this is not to say I didn't like winning the prize, I LOVE winning and always try for the brass ring. If I get it, fantastic, and if I don't get it, fantastic again because I know I gave it my best.
I donate my time as a volunteer of course, but in this way I feel I'm thanking them - the staff who work so very hard to keep our program alive, and the students who have the courage to change their lives.
I believe money isn't everything, I know that I'll make someone smile from my gift and that makes me feel very rich indeed.
