A crash course in changing the world.
While I was in New York last week I visited a bar called EVR which accepts Bitcoins as payment. Bitcoin is a virtual currency that was created four years ago which allows its users to remain anonymous. Using peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks, the Bitcoin network manages transactions and the issuing of bitcoins collectively. Since it's an open source currency and designed by the public, it's not owned or controlled by anyone and allows everyone to take part in it. By using Bitcoin to pay for my drinks, I saw the future of electronic currency as a way to connect purchases across country borders. I think it's an incredibly exciting alternative to paper currency and would be a great way to end the hassles of converting money.
