I sent the following e-mail about a week ago:
Dear Dr MillerMy name is Yumna Moosa and I am a fourth year medical student at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. I am
also a member of EVOKE, a social network game designed to help empower
young people all
over the world, and especially young people in Africa, to come up with
creative solutions to our most urgent social problems (see www.urgentevoke.org).
One of our first "missions" is to identify a social innovation role
model, and to learn the ways of the social innovator by e-shadowing the
chosen person.I've been scouting around, and today I stumbled across a YouTube video about the LifeWrap. And then did some more exploring. Tomorrow I
start my Obstetrics and Gynaecology rotation, so it seems fitting that
I spend the next 8 weeks engaging with issues around safe motherhood.I am e-mailing to let you know that I think you are an inspired and inspiring human being and have chosen you as my social innovation role
model, and that I will be e-stalking you over the next few weeks.Thank your for the work you do.Yumna:)And, guess what... She has joined EVOKE!
She has joined our Women's Health forum (
http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/womens-health-forum-affinity), so now we have an EXPERT advisor.
Am still in the process of exploring the problem in local primary level facilities. A report will follow shortly.
These are exciting times...
:)
