-- think like a child (ie - dream ?)
First, i told myself : it can't be it. I mean : people have problems. Real problems, based on infrastructures or lack thereof. Based on cultural misconceptions, ancient traditions, colonial past, anger, hunger, needs, sorrow, pain.... yet, hopes, and dreams ? I cannot stop but think that in my life, even in the worst moments, even when i despair of the world, even when i tell myself : you're lucky to be alive, safe, in good health, in a country where everythings seems given for free. I cannot stop to think : if we don't dream, if we don't see what's inside us when consciousness breaks free of reason's reign, if we don't get it and take it, seize it, and use it, then, our species is doomed. Doomed to repeat history, doomed to stay inside the limits of our world. Poor humanity, never could get free of its own creation.
This is not a claim for a return to ancient faith, rituals, organized superstition (ie religion). dreams are alive, they SHOULD be alive. unconscious is a short-cut, like god : it's a purity, yes, it could be love, it should be loved for its clarity. i don't care about answers. what we need is a path. for a while, i took the myth path. myth is not what was before, myth is about how everyday, in our gestures, we create the world anew. to see a bird with fresh eyes every morning. to see things for the first time, every day, even when time wears them, erodes them to shreds of conformity. then i realized that we don't even need myths - even new ones. what we need is to listen and see the shapes. what we need is to see the world like an alien planet, something to wonder at.
easy to tell that to a starving child - but even a starving child can understand a bird's laughter and the magic of a constellation. The shape of a cloud, drawn on the ground, is the map of a future home.
