I live in Denmark, where no one is starving because of lag of food security. That's not true though. The animals suffer. Why? Because they are kept under inhumane conditions. Why is that so? Many people will say, that it's because of greed. That's partly true, but in reality it's also about Farm Subsidies, let me explain:
Because of Farm Subsidies the farms are essentially locked into socialism, where everything must be the same. There isn't room for or incentives towards innovation.
What are we going to do?
We must end socialism in the way we grow our food. We must let the free market function, and in the free market, innovation is not only encouraged, it's demanded, because of competition. People care for more than the price, but when all companies do the same, and customers can see factory food and so called organic food side by side, with a mandatory difference in price, people will tend to choose the factory food, I know I do. Now imagine a free market. The organic farmers would have to lower their prices to compete with factory farmers. This would mean that organic farmers would need to cut costs in their way of farming. This in turn would do the same to those who deliver equipment to the organic farmers, and those suppliers would have to cut costs as well. At some point the market will realize that too much food is getting produced, which will drive down prices. This is the critical point, because NOW even organic food will be very cheap, and so with education of people, people can now choose the organic foods at a very cheap price, instead of the factory food. This will end factory food, I hope.
Food security begins at home. Much of the over production of food in the Industrialized world gets exported to the third world with massive subsidies, running the local farmers out of business. This must END.
