The meal is simple - a lightly seared farm grown bass with a side of vegetables from my backyard. The ecosystem it comes from is perfectly balanced to both feed nature and the fish I am eating. Its inspiration was the bass referenced in Dan Barber's TED talk and that idea went on to create fish farms that were ecologically sound all over the world. I biked over to my local farm and picked up 4 freshly caught fish for my family. The taste is so pure and the vegetables from my backyard seem so unbelievably wh***some that I am transported far far away from my earlier days eating processed food. My wh*** family is enjoying this unusual treat of fish. I was the cook for tonight so I accept the praise for my fish ala fish as I like to call it as there are no additions other than a lightly flavored oil.
Life is simpler when it comes to food and we can rely on what we have made ourselves for most nights. It is good to know you have what you need from your own efforts.
