I have heard the saying feed a man a fish and he'll have a meal for a
day, teach him how to fish and he'll feed himself for a lifetime. It
really reminded me of what I can do to help people with their food security.
Almost every day here at my school I go around to a
class to educate them about Haiti and what they can do to help. I have
heard so much about the hunger issues, but what I try to do, is stop
that. I think of ways I can help people in Haiti, even though I am here
in New York. What I have done is sent money and resources. I educate myself and others to find ways to send resources that will last, being that food security is not a one time thing.
Not only that but in April my wh*** school is going to go to a park and plant new trees and clean up the environment. This will help so many people and also the animals that live there. This will affect my state and help those less fortunate. Like collecting canned foods for homeless shelters.
I know that these are just small steps to create a bigger and better future.
