I don't think that the future can be reliably predicted with regards to one person. You may consider their own wishes, the social trends, and the economic fluctuations, but there are simply so many variables, that it is, in the end, an insurmountable problem.
But where do I want to be in 2020?
Well, provided I'm upright, not half-dead from stress, and I have enough stimulation and creative opportunities, I'm not especially concerned. My physical location is nowhere near as important as my internet access.
Except that I prefer bleak, grey, stormy weather. So preferably, England.
I remember a science fiction story where the protagonist has just given aid to a robot who plans to leave the earth, and considers that he may be remembered far into the future, under strange skies. If I am my thoughts, and the purpose of a lifeform is to survive, my purpose is to propagate my thoughts, in one medium or another. I consider virtuous behaviour to be supporting the survival and comfort of others, so if I want to be virtuous, I have to find some way of doing that as well.
Ideally, I'd be back in Lancaster, which I miss from my student days.
I'd be working either as a software developer, a viral marketer, or an
author. Hopefully, I'd have made some kind of significant contribution
towards PLAYPOWER.
When I'm called to deal with the food crisis, I'll be spinning around on my chair, muttering to myself, and dreaming of fire and lightning.
