Where will I be in 2020? I imagine I will still be living in the same house (it being paid off and all). But I hope to retire about then from daily employment. Hopefully, I will have enough savings and social security to be able to arrange my own time and volunteer in meaningful ways.
I can see myself using my computer graphics and library skills to help people do displays and outreach or to organize things. In the past I have volunteered for the United Religions Initiative in San Francisco, helping them get their photographic collection organized so that they can find the photos they need to create meaningful and beautiful celebrations of their work. I am currently volunteering with the Interfaith Center at the Presidio to help them get their video collection of interviews with thought leaders organized.
So looking forward I will probably still be doing those sorts of things. But I really hope that I will have more time for my art. The last mural I painted was in 1999. The last batch of small paintings I did was 2004. My last machinima in 2007. Somehow art seems to have gotten away from me.
So, ideally when Alchemy calls I will be creating art that inspires and working with local, national and international non-profits and NGOs on the topics of the day in the areas of peace, social justice, women and children's issues, access to clean water and environmental sustainability.
