From the learning part of mission 3 (
http://blog.urgentevoke.net/2010/03/17/investigate-episode-3/) it seams that having electricity is a basic need to everyone. As much as electricity can bring great improvements in everyone's life (refrigeration, higher productivity, safety by public illumination, etc.) it also brings a lot of distractions (tv mainly).
So I wonder if electricity is really one of the most urgent needs for low income people such as the favelas? wouldn´t some kind of support to micro-enterprises (entrepreneurship workshops, microcredits, etc.) have improved their lives more? maybe better education? maybe a way to easily and safely report drug dealers to police?
I wonder if this time the Evoke network worked more to spread their own vision of development than to actually help local people.
