A crash course in changing the world.
I already have seen a lot of interesting projects on Kickstarter.com.
One of this was double-fine-adventure where the known Game Designer Tim Schafer (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango) wants to create a game that was rejected by the great software publishers
Another one is Pebble an E-Paper Watch than that can connect to an iPhone or an Android phone with lots of possibilities.
However, they wanted more money for a reward than I wanted to pay to try something out.
I read several online comics one of those is awkwardzombie.com in one of their latest’s comics they announced a comic book that was about to be founded on Kickstarter.
As a fan of this comic series and because of curiosity about Kickstarter I wanted to try this one, and for 5$ I would even get an .pdf of the final comic book. The printed one costs too much for me because of international shipping.
Therefore, I signed up an account on Kickstarter and opened the project page. I was hoping for a payment method I had used before like paypal or that could at least be paid directly from my bank account.
So I tried to fund this project with 5$ and selected the PDF as reward. Sadly Kickstartet doesn’t support paying with my bank account and also not paying with paypal. The only option they had was amazonpayments. I though ok no problem I have an Amazon account, sadly that’s a service from Amazon.com and not from Amazon.de which seems to makes a difference as this one only supported payment with a credit card which I don’t have.
This is something that bothers me quite often but up to now, I always found a way around this problem. Sadly not this time and even if many companies advertise it as easy to get a credit card this is nothing I would rush into. So as for now I won’t fund any Kickstarter projects.
