Ive been scouring the web for interesting stories about creative solutions to the energy crisis.
the first one I found was on TED.com
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/adam_grosser_and_his_sustainable_...Adam Grosser uses Ferdinand Carre's invention of absorption refrigeration to create a 20$ refrigerator that can last 24 hrs and only requires a campfire to warm it for 30 minutes. His mission is to provide accessible refrigeration to help preserve food and medicine.
The next interesting bit of creativity that I found was on Wired Magazine. The article
http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2002/08/54456 talks about how algae is being used to generate hydrogen for hydrogen electric reactions. This is exciting because, we have known that hydrogen can be used to create
clean abundant energy, but we never have had a clean abundant way of obtaining hydrogen. That all changed in 1999 when Tasios Melis a professor at Berkley discovered that if you deprive the algae of sulfur (which the algae requires to create protein) they produce hydrogen. Although they have only been able to operate the algae hydrogen synthesis at an estimated 10% of the theoretical capacity.

http://epmb.berkeley.edu/facPage/dispFP.php?I=25The last one I found was about using the tides to generate power. Really if you think about it that means harnessing the power of gravitational pull! (tides being caused by the warping of our planet when it is pulled by the mass of the moon) This site
http://www.alternative-energy-news.info/technology/hydro/tidal-power/ has a number of articles and examples of how tides could be used to generate electricity
What makes me happy is that I know that when we (mankind) go completely to using renewable energy it won't be because we all use hydrogen generators, or only because of wind farms. When we hit 100% renewable energy it will be because hundreds of idea will be used in conjunction. It's like Alchemy said,
"When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion."
