In researching this Urgent Evoke exercise, I found this preparation guide and if I got one message from my research, it's that we need to
be prepared. This checklist I found is for faith-based and community organizations, in other words the people themselves to plan and prepare.
I like that idea, we simply can't depend on government to do it all, we must take responsibility and action in preparing for the next outbreak.
Last year when H1N1 cases were being reported elsewhere in my country and the world I was shocked when I learned it had hit here on my small island in the middle of nowhere too. I'm letting that serve as a wake-up call and will pass this on to the woman here who leads our Emergency Response team and has all the connections here to see how we can get started on this.
When the H1N1 hits home again I won't be shocked knowing we as a community are prepared for the worst.
