I have developed a friendship with an amazing woman who has set up the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship Education in Manila. Her name is Caroline Burns and I first met her when I worked on the Teenpreneur Project in Manila some years ago. She has set-up this institute to try and bring education to those poor people who live in the Manila slums and who currently receive little or no education at all.
Caroline and I have recently developed a taught program here in the UK, at my University, which provides some of my undergraduate students with an opportunity to learn about the lives of these people in Manila. But better than that, a project they work on which involves innovating craft products, has direct impact on the lives of those on the ground in the slums. I love the fact that my very lucky students, through dedication and commitment, can affect the lives of people on the other side of the world in a positive way.
