A crash course in changing the world.
My favourite tip from this list is:
Don’t fight culture
Too often, well-meaning development workers try and introduce or impose what they perceive to be a much better solution to local problems. But they fail to consider that it may not be something that the local people actually want or will ever use. Sending shoes to Haiti was just the latest in a long line of examples - sturdy shoes which last you well through the cold Washington DC winter may seem like they would be useful, but in a country like Haiti they're useless.
