A crash course in changing the world.
Try living for a week on $2 a day.
What a different mind set we would all have if we took one week of our lives to do this. Even just a day. If you have access to this computer, from the comfort of your own home or even an air conditioned building you are already among some of the richest people in the world. Especially us in America, we have no clue what living at the world's average is actually like.
I encourage people to take time out of their lives to humble ourselves and choose to experience what others are forced to endure. That is when you can create a true heart adjustment for striving for change in the world-- when you've walked a mile in someone's shoes.
Actually, if you only had two dollars a day you probably wouldn't have shoes. Would you have clothes to stay warm? Would access to a shower even be possible? What would you even eat? Think of small thinks at the grocery market that you could buy. Maybe a few bananas and some bread. Now you need a place to stay every night unless you're okay with being homeless.
Work your heart out all day long doing grueling manual labor tasks (yes, that means no fusion chair to sit in at work) and then at the end of the day see the petty results that your two dollars gets you.
That is how we can change the way that people see others. This is the kind of personal action and sacrifice it will take to monitor and assist changes in our world. This is social innovation, in your life.
