A crash course in changing the world.
This is in response to and in collaboration with the request for blog posts on learning strategies.
The most powerful learning strategy is playing.
Good players are both free and spontaneous and command respect because one cannot predict their next move.
I have been in the teaching realm for many years now and my best teaching and learning spaces have been the playful ones,
I remember in one class I took a Fray song in and made the students listen to the lyrics and then made it into an exercise of analysis of the meaning of the lyrics, rhyme, metaphorical and figurative language - I couldn't do metonymy because it was not a Univ class but high school - and I found learning happening so quickly although my hidden agenda was to teach them how to answer reading comprehension passages. They loved it.
One of my heroes is Clifford Stoll. He is frenetic and hyperactive but I love how he continuously plays in the classroom and rambles and hops and jumps and teaches all at the same time.
The greatest hope for mankind is to learn through play.
Well, what more can I say.
This is not a learned treatise, i prefer speaking from real experience about what has worked for me and this is in itself an exercise in play.
Many people quote others - let me quote myself
Success is taking life with the carefree attitude one should have while playing a game and playing games as if your wh*** life depended on it.
Thank you.
Koshy.
