Poverty + Illiteracy = HUNGER
The biggest challenge to food security is POVERTY + ILLITERACY
IN MY COUNTRY UGANDA, the majority of people (80%+) rely on their gardens for food and earning some money to buy the essential needs. This means at the end of the day, the family head has to sell 3/4 of the food to get some money to acquire the basic facilities (salt, soap, kerosene, e.t.c.). Even the children of a farmer with cows will not taste the milk because that's the only way he can some money to send the children to school.
The high levels of illiteracy are not helping matters either, the young boys and girls are giving birth at early age. And the cycle repeats itself.
Illiteracy Is The Source of All Evil!
Innovative agriculture styles wont really help! Educate the locals! The educated population that can decide between good and bad is first step towards food security. Knowing where to make an effort is the most important thing.
