I found this assignment harder than I thought. While I know that there are numerous people worth following out there, most of my first choices have passed away making it quite hard to follow them.
There are a number of writers I follow that I find to be incredibly innovative thinkers and I will continue to do so (such as
http://www.worldchanging.com/bios/alex.html) But I found that most of the stories and projects I am intrigued by are done by groups that are full of interesting people (like Architecture for Humanity). This lead me to think that I really haven't looked as in-depth at the work being done on the ground every day to make the world a better place. As much of my own interest revolves around technology and redesigning the way the world works now so that everyone has the same tools and resources and we don't use up our own planet, my heroes here have a distinctly design oriented focus. From online mapping to building windmills, these innovaters are working to literally reshape the world and I admire that.
I have chosen
