I am a great believer in knowledge.
I am young. So naturally I am grateful that I understand it's importance early in life.
As with any issue, one always begins with a problem. Throughout our short time on Earth we have done much to try to dream up and create solutions to obvious problems. I am no genius, but i have a grasp of mathematics. I quickly realised that it is much more productive to show HOW a problem is solved rather than someone simply doing the sum in front of you. Last year I gave myself a challenge of learning to solve the Rubik's cube. Baffled at first, I tried my hand at devising my own way of solving it, to no success. I then decided to look for pre-existing methods to solve it. I finally found a channel on Youtube that specialised in solving the cube. Over the course of a few days i concentrated on the METHOD of HOW to solve the cube. By the third day i could solve it without any aid.
You may be asking "What does Rubik's cube have to do with real world problems?". The answer is this; In order to solve a problem, for me, personally, I need a sort of template. The scrambled cube is the problem. I can already imagine the solution (the solved cube). The only thing missing is the knowledge, or method, to solve it.
With knowledge, comes power. One person can teach another the skills required to solve ANY problem. But the drive to do so must be there first. I believe i can do anything i put my mind to. I believe anyone can. We need to give each other the skills required to solve major problems on a massive scale in order to produce change.
As for my Rubik's Cube story?
I have taught 24 people how to solve the cube to date...
Perhaps my view on problem solving is a little simplistic. But i have to start somewhere.
One person doing something is small. But teach many how to do the same thing and it becomes massive.
