The main source of water in Singapore is rainfall and it is collected in reservoirs or water catchment areas. Driven by a vision of what it takes to be sustainable in water, Singapore has been investing in research & technology. Today, the nation has built a robust, diversified and sustainable water supply from four different sources.
One of them is the sea.
By a process called desalination, which is the process of removing salt & minerals from sea water, making it safe to drink. With newer Technology coming in everyday, desalination is becoming more energy efficient & the cost of setting it is also coming down.

I was going through the web looking for new effective & low cost ways to clean water and i found that activated charcoal which is highly porous can be used as a filter to clean water.
