SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS KEY
Food security is a big issue in Africa and a lot of awareness should be brought to it. Because malnutrition,HIV/AIDS and poverty are very real here, we can not risk having food insecurity.There has been a lot of debate about whether or not the production of Biofuel in South Africa will cause food insecurity,I believe that proper measures should be in place to prevent that from happening.There are certain plants and trees that cannot be eaten by humans that can be used to produce Biofuel. It is a scary thought that one day if we are not careful we will starve. I'm originally from the North West which is one of the most agricultural provinces in South Africa. I grew up knowing that farming is important and treating land like royalty is vital for our survival as human beings, not everyone is that fortunate though. When I was volunteering and helping kids with their homework, I found out that a lot of teenagers do not have a clue where the cereal they eat every morning comes from. Like I said in last week's mission, education..education...education. People need to be educated on how to use the natural resources to sustain themslves.

Maybe farmers could kill two birds with one stone, growing edible crops for their primary source, and interplanting them with beneficial crops that make them stronger and more pest resistant, at the same time as being useful for biofuel...?

Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
