A crash course in changing the world.

"The African Dream" a fair traded meal

In March 2020 I am eating in a small african restaurant in Nuremberg which only sells meals with fair trade ingredients. It is the first really nice day in the year. So I asked a friend to go with me to that restaurant. Being curious about this "fair trade thing", I will ask the waiter where my food comes from and why it is important to this restaurant to sell only fair trade product. He will answer that it comes from Africa of course. They only buy fair traded products because they have relatives in Africa and they know that climate change has really become a problem there. It has changed the cultivation of plants. Many people are not able to cultivate their land anymore because it is too dry to have plants there. They lost their jobs, they lost their food sources and they can hardly help themselves.

By buying fair trade products they hope to help these people. Buying fair trade products does not only mean, that the workers are well paid for their job, it also means that you help to fight against climate change. The fair trade business also shows how people can handle climate change. They tell them what methods can be used to save our environment and slow down the climate change.

After hearing all of these things I will be glad to be at that restaurant.

After getting some references from the waiter, I will order a meal with meat. It will be one of the best I will ever have tasted. This dish will be called the African Dream. It will be very spicy and the meat will be delicate. I think I would have to ask the chief, who prepared this delicious meal, whether he could give me the recipe.
