Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I´m from an nice little town in the middle of Germany with 125.000 inhabitants, Göttingen. Normally everythings nice and quiet here, but there have been some events in the last few years that were a bit disturbing.
The thing is that Göttingen is a center of radical left wing activism, which sometimes is militant and violent.
Just recently we had a small bomb attack at a local government building. It was nothing big and nothing lethal, but it was still an act of political violence and I believe that under certain circ**stances it could get worse than that.
An example would be a big demonstration of several hundred neo-Nazis that caused a anti-demonstration of several thousand people. That would´ve been a good thing, but unfortunately several hundred of them were militant left wing activists.
The results were burning barricades on the streets and violence against the police
Some of it is shown here:

Of course everything still was under control and not very dangerous to the public, but something like that could gather momentum.

As said before the main threats were posed by burning barricades blocking the street, so that would be one key data Ushahidi could keep track of. Which roads are blocked, where are barricades and who is needed to clean the mess, fire brigade, police or both?
Than there could well be some fighting, as the left wing activists usuallly try to get to the neo-Nazis and sometimes the other way around. So Ushahidi could mark fighting in the streets and probably how great the danger is posed by the single fights and with which weapons they are fought. That way the police could quickly figure out where to go first and how to be prepared.
It could also be useful to know where crowds of activists are gathering so that one could predict what happens next.
Ushahidi could also keep track of the medical situation. Where is the hospital with the greatest number of free capacities and where can one still get medical supplies.
That would just be some ideas how Ushahidi could help in times of political violence.
I still think that this will not happen in my community but it is the most likely thing I could think of given that these demonstrations happen every couple of years.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
