I think the Water for People organization has the right idea when it comes to clean water for the world. The number of people (mostly children!) that die everyday as a result of unsanitary conditions and lack of clean water is staggering. It's a shame that human beings have to live in conditions people in the "civilized" world wouldn't even allow their pet to live in, let alone survive in. By taking the approach that Water for People pursuing, we can get clean water to many more people. Albeit, working in villages and on a person-to-person basis is amazing and should continue, we should definitely put more resources into getting a water supply that is widespread and can be used by thousands upon millions of people, instead of just giving a small village some bottled water. We should look at the problem as a wh*** and try to get these resources to as many people as possible. Giving water to villages isn't going to do anything but eat time and money because you have to go back to that village to drop off more water. If we gave them a well, or some kind of man made water source, where maybe you have to go back every once in awhile to check the pH balances and cleaniness, then they can get it for themselves. As the old adage goes: "If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime."
