14 year old Malawian guy William Kamkwamba couldn't afford to go to school.
Barely being able to read english he borrowed some books from the library about windmills. Then he built one of his own, using an old bicycle and some junk from the local scrapyard. The windmill produced enough electricity to power four lights and two radios in his family's house.
"If you want to make it, all you have to do is try. . ."
Williams dream is to start a company about windmills. His point is that "Most people want technology, but they cant use the Internet technology without electricity. That's what I'm planning to do, to come up with reliable electricity"
He has now added a second windmill, solar panels, bright lighting and a deep water well to his family compound. For the first time, his family can work, study, and read at night, and irregate crops by day.
I choose William as my role model because he inspires me to believe that regardless of what everyone else is thinks, a single person (me or you) can achieve radically amazing things! How hard can it be?
