Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

The thing I have learned quite a while ago, which is connected to the future of money is the idea of a basic income. In general it is about disconnecting the money from work. Meaning, that even if you dont work, you will still have enough money to live a decent life. Everyone will get it, unconditionally.

It is based on the fact, that in todays modern world, we have means to make the work easier and to work less. The Ancient Romans and Greeks used slaves to work for them, while they were inventing things, talking about politics and philosophy (apart from heavy wine drinking of course :) ). Using slaves is inhuman obviously, but we have machines, that can work for us.

So why do we allways see the politicians care about new workplaces and why do the workes in a fabric fear the machines designed, so that they wouldnt have to work anymore? The answer is easy. If you dont work, you cant afford to live a decent life, so you either find a work, or starve, or steal. And if you cant find any work, and dont want to steal, you are in trouble.

The basic income is the solution to this, I think, because if you dont have to worry about your own living and if you dont have to work in a lousy job just to survive this month, you can do something meaningful. Now it doesnt mean the basic income should be set so high, that you would be able to just sit around all day sipping martini. It should be enough for you to afford to pay your rent, food expenses, some clothing and for example a book once a month. Or a cinema. That way, everyone would have some standard of living taken care of and if they wanted to, they could get a half-time or full-time job (now that people can quit their jobs, the job opportunities should rise) to get a higher standard. And in their spare time they could do something else. And trust me, they would do something else. Nobody can sit around all day long doing nothing, we have to do something. That way more people could devote their time to non-profit activities, better education, social care, developing communities, or hanging out with friends and neighbours.

I think the basic income is part of the magic pill, we all are searching for. And what is best, there are people already taking action. I am for example going to vote in this years election for a party, which suggest a system simmiliar to this, which I think is just a first step.

If you want to know more, here is a video about basic income (its german, but there is a possibility to turn on the english, or many more, subtitles)

Interesting thought, but I have a feeling a lot of people would take advantage of this. +1 Vision anyway!

I agree with this pretty much 100%. Reminds me of my own sentiments on the subject.

Sarah: thats exactly the point. To take advantage of it. There is a lot of economic things needed to be done, which I dont fully understand. But what I do understand and think is reasonable, is to get rid of the income tax and make the consuption tax higher accordingly (Im not sure, if the terms are correct, but hopefully its clear). So if you do this right, anyone, who wishes to, could take the advantage of it, without having to suffer from "frowning upon" by the rest of the society.

yup, I have read your blog, and I kind of agree with him, although, Im not that long on Evoke to know any of the people, or to know about the stuff going on here.
So I agree with the thing about this game not being for people who dont have internet connection/english skills, but still I find it a great idea. I mean, now I view things differently thanks to many people and numerous posts. And I want to do some serious work in the "world saving business", thanks to Evoke.
The other stuff in that blog, yeah it bothers me, obviously, but I cant relate to that, so I think for now, I will just keep on playing.
Have a nice day :)

My point was that while some people will funnel that into using their time to do good in the world other people are just lazy.

I know, and a lot of people think the same, but would you just sit around all day?
In the video, I linked to, they show results of a survey and majority of people would not stop going to work, they would only work less, and then there were people who would work the same amount of hours and also people who would do absolutely nothing. The funny thing is, that when asked, majority of people would not sit around all day long, even if they had the chance, but every one of them was certain, that all the others would :)

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
