This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.
The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.
Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid boat he bought in the spring. I told him he didn't need to buy it, but he was so excited about the technology and the fact that the boat didn't even have a gasoline option. It was a beautiful day and the sun powered our tubing and waterskiing all day long!
One of the most exciting additions from last year was the hydro-powered outdoor shower. Mom added on some finishing touches to make it feel like a true shower, and everyone is clamoring to use it. The lake water itself turns the turbines for the water pump that feeds clean water to bathe in through the spigot.
It is amazing how our family gatherings have changed since we started having these parties in 1980. These new technologies have smoothly integrated themselves into the celebration of the Fourth of July
