A crash course in changing the world.

Social Innovation through resource management.

In a world where natural resources are getting more and more sparse, mankind needs to learn to maximize its use of natural resources. According to Ethan Zuckerman's "Innovating from constraint" he writes " Innovation (often) comes from constraint". Unfortunately this is has not been the case for mankind in a very long time. If we do not have the resource needed we often go into a different part of the world and either buy it ( export/import) or we take it, either through war or big corporations essentially raping the country of its natural resources. The latter MUST stop as soon as possible! We cannot continue the vicious cycle of using critical resources, such as Oil and various metals, to acquire these very same resources.

Now what does this mean to western society? Well we are in dire need to innovate our technology to either stop using resources we do not have or reduce the amount that we use of said resource. This is where innovation from constraint comes into play. We have finite amount of resources but infinite amount of "want". Therefore we must figure out a way to use the resources we have in a efficient and responsible manner.

Since I am a Political Science student I will give my political solution to this problem. I believe that if the government of Canada ( and the provincial governments) were to provide Canadian scientists and engineers the money that they need to come up with new and improved ways to create and build the technologies that we need, we can therefore not only keep jobs from being exported but we can also use the resources we have readily available in a responsible manner.

This begins and ends with the willingness of governments to use its power to influence the corporations to be more social weary and possibly be willing to pay to help the transition from a consumer based society to one based on social and environmental awareness. It wont be easy but we must be able to do it for our future generations!

I think a lot of the technologies already are out there waiting to be used but aren't for political or business reasons. Or it just doesn't help the bottom line of those who wield great influence.

Yes i have seen that doc**entary and found it to be very insightful. I do think we need governments around the world to come together for the betterment of our future. We also need companies that have the technologies necessary to make them readily available and most importantly make them affordable.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
