TED is indeed very interesting. The talks, as others have noted, are amazing. "Ideas worth spreading"
TED is also a conference. A very expensive conference, where you are required to be a member of TED to become an attendee.
To be at a TED conference is a networking opportunity of another world, if that is your thing. To Speak at TED is also a huge boost to one's career. Given, of course, that it all goes well ;)
Here is a list with an attendee's personal response to the different talks from TED 2010.
I was thinking of something recently, which you guys might find interesting. We meet a lot of people through experiments like EVOKE or Superstruct whose ideas would deserve a TED Talk. So how about using the format of TED for what would be (not)TED talks ?
@ Raymond yes the talk given by the scientist is a very good example of an amazing TED talk and her story-telling skills is definitely worth commending. Check out Jill Bolte Taylor's Stroke of Insight for those interesting in watching it.
@Thomas, I think you're on to something great with the idea of having agents give a special presentation similar to a TED talk and a good angle to work on would be trying to incorporate these talks on special projects for the first EVOKE summit in DC. Plenty of time to think about giving this idea a shot and work on it.
