Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Indigenous Knowledge - IMAGINE

EVIDENCE TAG:
IMAGINE8
STATUS:

When you are 100 years old, what local secret will you pass on?

You are yourself, at the age of 100.

You are an elder of your community -- of your village, or your city, or your country, or your planet. What local secret will you pass on?

Remember, it's far in the future -- it's whatever year you will be 100 years old in. It's the year 2094 if you are 16 years old in the year 2010, or 2089 if you're twenty-one, or 2080 if you are thirty.

Many things in our world will change between now and then. Who knows what we will consider an "indigenous community" that far in the future?

"Indigenous" means "native to a land or region, particularly before contact with other cultures." Today, it mostly describes native people living in villages. But what will "indigenous" describe in the future?

Stretch your imagine as far as it can go. Will Cape Town and San Francisco be considered "indigenous cities" in the future -- and if so, compared to what? Will Italy and Brazil be "indigenous nations" -- and if so, what would that mean? Will Earth be an "indigenous planet"?

Your objective:

Imagine yourself at the age of 100, and write or record an urgent message to the world passing on YOUR elder's wisdom. What piece of wisdom about your local environment and eco-system will you want to help share with far-flung cultures, or future generations?

This objective is worth +21 vision.

When I'm 100 I will tell my grandchildren a few important things. I will tell them about the earthquake that Christchurch experienced in 2010-2011 and many stories about that. I will tell them to enjoy life and to follow their dreams and do something they want to do. I will tell them to stand up for what they think is right and make a change about it. I will teach them to stay honest and respectful to everything and everyone. I will tell them to stay healthy (excersize) and to stay in school and make the best of their education. Traditionally I would have to pass down the delicious family fruit cake! The most important thing I would tell them is to always stay positive even when they are in a bad situation. Always be happy, enjoy life and live it to the full!

When i'm one hundred years old, I would like to teach my grandchildren many things. I will tell them about the 2010-2011 eathquake - how we learnt to stay positive, and how we continued to live as normal as possible. I will teach them to always be honest and respectful to people. I will tell them to stay healthy and well-educated, and make something of their life. But most of all, i will tell them to always stay happy, and enjoy life :)

When I am 100, I will tell my grand kids all about the beginning of the world. How mankind evolved from that and "how it was back in the old days". I would also share our family pork dumpling recipe. YUM! When I am older I want people to remember me. So I would tell them all about my life- the past, the present and the future.

When I am 100, I will give my grand kids life lessons like to be kind to everyone you meet, even if you don't particularly like them and hang out with them so they aren't left out. And help out wherever and however you can, and even if you can't help much, just make your best effort and it will be fine. And don't take advantage of your living friends, family, food and house because there are not many people in the world have these things in thier lives.

All of us must have had the experience of sitting in front of our grandparents, listening to them telling us about their wisdom and knowledge they learnt from their lives, listening, as they pass down the knowledge to us that we won’t forget. As time goes by when it’s my turn to pass on our knowledge, I will make sure our next generation won’t forget about them.
I will tell them the stories of our ancestors and the history of human. Humans have created a strong and stable society we have now has never been smooth nor pleasant. Wars have been created, blood has been spilled, hatred has spread. The reason to all of this is because humans wanted too much, many are too selfish to care for others. They strive to get what they want no matter what the cost is, they trick, they cheat, they lie and betray. They do things so terrible and forbidden to gain power, wealth or just simply to benefit themselves. From these stories, I will teach our next generations to be humble and kind and always caring for others. I will teach them the right humanity every person needs, so war would never happen, hatred would never spread. I will make sure through this: tragedies would never happen, and history would never repeat itself again.

I have an idea that I hope it can be passed on to the younger generation. I hope they can get well along with their parents. I wish both parents and children can communicate instead of arguing. Now day, people are too busy to listen other's opinions, so this idea may be hard to accomplish. But getting well along with your parents is still very important!

Long time ago, there were ten suns at the sky .People were very hot. Plants died and water dried. A god, HouYi, decided to shoot nine suns, He succeed. People were and thanked of him. But Sun god was very angry because HouYi killed his sons. He expelled HouYi. So HouYi and his wife, Chang-Er, went to the man's world. They lived together.
Although HouYi loved Chang-Er very much, she was unhappy. She missed her family in heaven. HouYi wanted Chang-Er happy. He found a medicine that could help them went back heaven. He talked to Chang-Er this news. If Sun god forgave them, they could go back heaven.
But Chang-Er could not wait. She wanted to go home. One day, when HouYi did not at home, Chang-Er took the medicine. She flew. She flew to heaven but the guard did not let her into heaven. Chang-Er could not went home and the man's world. She flew to the moon. She lived there alone.
Chang-Er was very penitential. Now she missed her husband very much.

I think I will pass on the stories about festivals to younger generations because it is very meaningful.Every festivals has their stories like Chinese New Year.
It has many activities such as letting off firecrackers and sticking spring festival couples. Why we should do that? It is all because the story of Chinese New Year. Long time ago, there is a monster wants to eat people who live in the village. One day, the monster comes and people let off firecrackers to drive it away.
That's why we have to letting firecrackers. If we don't know that, we won't have so many interesting and meaningful maneuver like that!

When I am 100 years old, I want to pass on the ancient stories to the younger generation. They will realize why we have to celebrate many festivals.
Such as moon festival, there is a touching story behind it. Once upon a time, there was a bad emperor. He had tried many ways to get the medicine which could make you live forever. His wife didn’t want to see her husband use that to do bad things, so she took the medicine instead. She flew to the moon and lived alone there after taking it. Although she was great, we eat moon cake today is not for memorizing her.
I hope that the younger generation will have fun in this kind of story and pass them on.

I think I will pass on a story about the President Chen to my generation. Because is quite shocked to the Taiwanese people. In 2006, the investigation bureau had found that Chen-Shuibian and Wu-shuzhen had made lots of money from some illeagal ways. The most famous event of their abuse is about the “national affairs important fees”. The budget should be used for something that must be related for the state affairs, but our President Chen just took the money to his account. In 2009, he was sent to the jail, and had learn his lesson. I think I’ll teach my sons and grandsons that we should control the balance doesn’t distirguish between gold and lead if they’ll work as officials of the government.

I want to pass on the Lantern Festival to the younger generations. On the Lantern Festival, people have different kind of little paste. For example, little paste which made by Hakka people is salted. Most common little paste is white and sweet. (It can be red sometime) Other kind of little paste is big, it usually contain filling like sesame or peanut.
Every year, my grandma will cook a pot of little paste. Its content is some little paste and a lot of greens and pork. The little paste is salted because my grandma is Hakka. Actually I like sweet paste better. Sometimes I will ask grandma for some sweet big paste.
On the Lantern Festival, we also have to carry a lantern. I usually buy a lantern just for decorate. I like to DIY the lantern! I remember when I was a little girl. My mother took me to Lantern Exhibit. There were so many sorts of lantern! I wish that I can go to Lantern Exhibit with my mom again!

If I was 100 years. I think the thing that I want to pass on some songs to the younger generation. The contents in these songs are about the community now. Like the mess of politics, the disparity between the rich and the poor, the disaster of the radiation, and so on. We can also pass some good actual states, too. Like freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of trade, freedom of taking a tour, and something else. So that, the younger generation can know that what it is like in this time. And they can comment this community now is good or bad. If it is good, they can take these good methods to improve their live If it is bad, they can prevent these bad actual states and take some actions before them happen. So, that is why I want to pass on some songs to the younger generation.

To be frendly to others is a way to make friends. You can have some good relationships between you and others by being polite and friendly. Taiwanese has this special skills to do it. So i want to pass these skills to younger generations. Then one day, our society will be peaceful because everyone is very polite and friendly to others. Then Taiwan will be better than now in the future.

I would like to pass on 007 to the young generations. It is a game. I played it almost everyday. It is an easy game. The game needs two people and their hands, that’s all. It needs some strategies to win. There us three actions, “load a gun”, “protection casing” , “shoot the gun” But my little brother don’t know how to play this game. That is very unfortunately, so I’d like to pass on this game to the young generations.

I would like to pass on traditional cultures to the younger generations. I think we have the duty to pass on traditional cultures. If we don't pass them, they will disappear one day. In the future, no one will remember the traditional cultures we have now.I think this is terrible.I also want to pass on traditional food to the younger generations.I think the Chinese traditional food is very good to eat, so I wish the younger generations can eat them someday.

I want to pass on Chinese kongfu to the younger generation, because I think it is awsome! You can learn it, and you don't have to scare that people will hurt you! Because you can use your kongfu to defence enemies. Just like Shaw Lin Kongfu in the past, some enemies want to bully them, and they use their powerful kongfu to defeat them! I like the kongfu that they use, so I want to pass on Chinese kongfu to the younger generation!

I want to pass on “弟子規”to the younger generations. Because most children younger than I don’t know what polite is. For example, they don’t know how to respect others, they just think about themselves; or they say the wrong thing at the wrong situation. Even they will run and shout at the museum and library. That is not very good to others.
Our generation almost read “弟子規”when we were young. Teachers and parents asked us to do things like what it says. And while we made mistakes, they might told us to remember what the book said, and correct our behaviors.
Old saying won't be wrong. And we should follow it, whether the generation is changing.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
