A crash course in changing the world.

Indigenous Knowledge - IMAGINE

EVIDENCE TAG:
IMAGINE8
STATUS:

When you are 100 years old, what local secret will you pass on?

You are yourself, at the age of 100.

You are an elder of your community -- of your village, or your city, or your country, or your planet. What local secret will you pass on?

Remember, it's far in the future -- it's whatever year you will be 100 years old in. It's the year 2094 if you are 16 years old in the year 2010, or 2089 if you're twenty-one, or 2080 if you are thirty.

Many things in our world will change between now and then. Who knows what we will consider an "indigenous community" that far in the future?

"Indigenous" means "native to a land or region, particularly before contact with other cultures." Today, it mostly describes native people living in villages. But what will "indigenous" describe in the future?

Stretch your imagine as far as it can go. Will Cape Town and San Francisco be considered "indigenous cities" in the future -- and if so, compared to what? Will Italy and Brazil be "indigenous nations" -- and if so, what would that mean? Will Earth be an "indigenous planet"?

Your objective:

Imagine yourself at the age of 100, and write or record an urgent message to the world passing on YOUR elder's wisdom. What piece of wisdom about your local environment and eco-system will you want to help share with far-flung cultures, or future generations?

This objective is worth +21 vision.

I would like to pass on the traditional food recipe to the younger generations. Eating traditional food on festival is our Chinese culture. We eat different food on different festival. For example, we eat Zongzi on Dragon Boat Festival, we have moon cake for Moon Festival, and we eat spring roll on tomb sweeping festival. Nowadays some people don’t eat the traditional food on the festival like the people in the past. But the festival will become less representative without the traditional food. I don’t want this kind of representative culture disappear. It is our unique culture. So, I want to pass on the traditional food recipe to the younger generation.

When I am 100 years old, I want to pass on ancient stories and some video games to younger generations. I want to pass on both of them because they are so important that I think everyone have to know.
To know ancient stories is very useful. You will use it all the time,no matter taking exam, chatting and so on. All these stories are interesting and we can learn a lot from them. They are usually related to gods, goddesses and monsters.媽祖,白蛇,保生大帝 are common stories.
Most people played vudeo gameswhen they were children,so it is necessary to pass on some classic games.Pocket Monsters and Mario are some must-played games. Pocket Monsters is about catching pocket monsters and fighting with pocket monsters' trainers. It is really inspiring. Mario is really a classic game. I think everyone should play these games in their childhood.
Ancient stories and video games are so important that we must pass them on.I hope that the younger generation can experience all these wonderful things.

I want to pass "Calligraphy" on the younger generations. A long time ago, Chinese people use brushes to write, which is called Calligraphy. Now, it becomes a kind of art. If you can write Calligraphy very well, the words you use pen to write can also be beautiful. Because of the technology, people now use pen to write, fewer and fewer people know how to write in Calligraphy. I want to let those younger people know how to use brushes, make sure that this tradition can be passed on forever.

I want to pass on "Moon cake Festival" to my grandsons or daughters. The festival is about an ancient story from China. Lon time ago, there were ten suns in the sky and they were all sons of the God. A man, however, shot down 9 suns from the sky to save people at that time and kept one sun in the sky. The man then became the Emperor. But when he got power and everything, his mind wasn’t as pure as the time he was before. He wanted to live long and never die. His wife, the queen found out his plan and decided to stop him. So one night, the queen stole the medicine which the god gave him to keep long life and had them all. At the same time, the emperor knew the queen’s mind and wanted to kill her. When he led his army went to the queen’s place, the queen was fling because of the medicine. The emperor was angry but there is nothing he could do. The queen then flew to the moon to keep the king away, and lived in the moon. In order to memorial the queen’s kindness, we usually get together with our family and watch the big round moon in the sky. And the moon on that day usually is big and round then usual!

I want to pass on red envelopes to the younger generations. In Taiwan, during Chinese New Year, the elder people will give red envelopes which have money inside to children. By doing so, the elder also give them best wishes and good luck. I think having red envelopes is extremely important to children because it is a way we can get allowance. The reason why the envelopes must be red is to scare away a monster named Year. Year is afraid of red color and noisy sound. That’s why we get red envelopes and explode the firecrackers during Chinese New Year. These two things can keep Year away from eating children. By understanding the meaning of red envelopes children can realize an old story about Year and how the elder people love their children.

When I'm an elder, I probably pass on patriotic concept to the younger generations. It’s an important part that citizens approve where they live.
When getting into trouble, we should unite and do our best for our country. For example, a disaster happened. We can volunteer for helping victims and also console them. Since we had this difficult time together, our national emotion has been stronger. That’s amazing that we can turn the grief as strength and change the crisis into the turning point.

One day when I’m an old man, I’ll want to pass on some classic things about Chinese culture to the younger generations. The first thing definitely will be Chinese Kung Fu! Martial arts combine both fighting skills and body movements. It not only can gain your self-defense ability but also can keep you healthy. Even foreigners came to learn Kung Fu! Secondly will be Chinese and Chinese characters. I have to admire that Chinese is such a difficult language to learn. Include the tones, writing and special meanings of the words. As Chinese people, younger generations surely should learn and realize the ancient wisdoms from our ancestors. They will also figure out more misery about Chinese culture by mastering it!

every man is born free, but he is not alone. Any kind of development will have to consider the "other", his social and natural environment, to live a sustainable and good life. And in every specific surrounding there are specific challanges. indigenous knowledge is based on experiences how to treat them and which practices are best to use. This knowledge surely tranforms by the tasks.

My advice would be to treat the earth well because it's all we have.

The knowledge that I would give today to and to every generation to come is the same, that i give today that which s born free must live and die free,. we humans are failing in doing that we are born free and slowly, incarcerating ourselves.

A secret worthy of passing on? Never undervalue the importance of helping one individual. It seems as though we get so caught up with solving the world's "BIG" problems when it's individual people that need our love and support.

To be happy you do not need to have more. The society tells us that we must have to be happy- a new this or that, a bigger house, a better job. But in fact when you want to be richer, more beautiful, more well known, you are missing the bigger picture and happiness will never come.
When a baby comes into the world, its hands are clenched. Why? Because a baby, not knowing better, wants to grab everything,to say, " The wh*** world is mine."
But when an old person dies, how does he do so? With his hands open. Why? Because he has learned the lesson. We can take nothing with us.

Youth, it is now when you know, where when you don't, and how when you're aware.

Hello world i have some information to impart on the youth of today, i want everyone to know that life should be lived everyday like it is your last. Make sure you do what makes you happy in your life, you cannot live your life for anybody but yourself.

There was no climate adverse when local peoples practised everything with the help of local knowledge. But every thing went wrong when peoples left the local knowledges. So I think when I will be 100 years peoples will searching the local knowledges instead of eco-harming technique.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
