This is an Urgent EVOKE progress report. All names have been changed to protect the identity of the subjects detailed in this report. A voice modulator has been used.

Well, I don't know why I put up with 'Matt' for so long. When we first met he was great - you know, he did all the nice… Continue

Empowering women begins at home!!!

On encountering the mission for ACT6 - to "help empower one girl or woman with better access to education or economic opportunity", I was overjoyed. I would like to take this opportunity to share a project that myself and my mother have been involved with for several years now.

In my city there is a residential home* for women who have been victims of domestic abuse. The residents of the home are women who have fled violent relationships and left everything behind. Most arrive with… Continue

Killing in the name of...?

I've always considered myself as a 'semi-feminist'. I do feel very strongly about the rights of women in society and at the same time, increasingly glad that I live in a country which upholds those rights. When I saw this week's topic, the empowerment of women, I knew that once I began my research I would discover violations of these rights which would truly upset me.

The UK is far from perfect when it comes to gender equality. Domestic abuse is a scourge of the developed world, and… Continue

Money that doesn't really exist?

To be honest, when I first saw the LEARN5 mission objective - to write about an alternative currency or monetary project - my first thought was to virtual money. However, I felt uncomfortable writing on this subject as I couldn't see any benefit to it which would make a blog post relevant to EVOKE. Having thought a little more on the subject, I now see things a little differently.

EVOKE aside, my main online hobby is the virtual world of Second Life. It is where my EVOKE agent name and… Continue

Riko - Have just joined the Evoke Group on Kiva and will be searching for some science or technology based projects to support over the next day or two. Just wanted to congratulate you on a great idea! Well done!

Riko, I would like to join your Evoke lender group. Good idea. By the way, how did you create the photo of yourself. I think it's somewhat lifelike so I'm guessing it represents your actual likeness. How did you do that? Thanks.

Hi Riko...just been reading your quest entries - you have a lovely view on the world and also have quite practical non-showing aspects. I notice that Ben had offered help in getting some inspiration for Act 2 etc... I'd like to help, and ask for it as well - if we get stuck and need a bit of a nudge with the missions? Anyway - keep it up, your mission blogs show real thought, rather than just rushing something off. Take care! :o)

Riko, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you...actually had to do some work today, v stressful!!

As always Simon has a very good suggestion. Could I offer a couple of my own?

Most people have looked at farming and home growing of food. If you have a technical bent then perhaps you could look at ways to bring people together via a website for food swaps and informal bartering. I might well do something similar for my own evokation but happy for you to do it instead. If you don't like the idea of a website and communicating is more your thing then perhaps an education project to choose a group of people from your community (class, youth group, friends etc) and change there perspective/outlook on food, both where it comes from and the implications for the future.

If these aren't for you then I'm sure we can figure something out.

Cheers and good luck

Ben

OK well I recommend taking inspiration from other players. Try this new improved search:

Search term - ACT 2

Let me know how things go.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
