IMAGINE5: World 2.0: The Bank of Change

May 17, 2020Slums of Tondo, ManilaPhilippines Breaking News: A new form of banking has emerged in the Philippines that aims to uplift the status of the poorest of the poor. This innovation began with the 'Bank of Change', where Filipinos classified as 'severely poor' can exchange their coins (also known as 'change', hence the clever double-meaning name of the bank) for more than its original monetary value. Example:one 5 centavo coin = 25 centavosone 10 centavo coin = 1 Pesoone 25 centavos coin…See More

ACT10: EVOKE Season 2 - World 2.0

World 2.0

Narrator: When EVOKE was exposed by Alpha, Alchemy knew the Network's curtain will be unveiled anytime soon. The fat lady has sung. It's cast, either awaiting applause, encores...or boos, and rotten tomatoes. EVOKE was able to function because of its secrecy. Now, more than ever, the show must go on...

IMAGINE10: World 2.0: EVOKE Manifesto

1. What are the goals of the network? How does it work?

The Network exists for one purpose - social innovation. A lot of things in this world can be improved. Individuals rarely do it on their own and problems usually need collaborative, multi-sectoral involvement. EVOKE is a platform where a community of social innovators can LEARN about the problems and solutions, doc**ent their ACTions, and IMAGINE and better world.

2. Who are the members? Why do they join?

EVOKE…

LEARN10: Evoking on Education, Environment and Health

1. WHICH great challenges and social problems should the EVOKE Network tackle next?

Education, Environment Protection and Public Health are the least prioritized sectors in my country (in terms of budget allotment). Yet these three probably have the most long term effects to the nation. Here are some specific issues Evoke could tackle:

  • How to educate out-of-school youths?
  • How to develop new ways to engage students to learn?
  • How to stop/report…

IMAGINE9: WORLD 2.0: The Power of Telehealth

December 2011

Manila, Philippines

The University of the Philippines Manila National Telehealth Center has been using SMS and Email to connect rural-based physicians since 2006. When the new strain of Influenza scattered all over the globe, no one was safe from panic. Everyone rushed to the health centers. Resources were getting scarce. The country needed a rapid way to disseminate up to date information even to the…

Save the Earth

Hello members of planet earth. My name is Justine and I have been on this planet now for 100 years. The local secret that I will pass on to all of you is to take care of the earth. Now that we are the indigenous people of this planet after getting invaded by mars, we have to approach our situation differently. Throughout my 100 years of life I have seen what human's impact has had on our planet. There is no more Amazon forest and most of wildlife is dying. Polar bears which used to live in…See More

Saving the planet's water one donation at a time!

In an effort to form an alliance with a water conservationist, I sought to research the best ways for me to better provide for a water-rich society. In my search, I discovered many organizations and various ways to help, but one group that stood out most to me is the Water Charity. Through productive and community organizing programs, Water Charity seeks to provide funds for needed projects to help bring water and different resources to regions of the world in need. My participation in this…See More
