Me and Ethan's Evokation: Helping a township with education and water info. Also: purify water with the sun!

Hey, me and Agent Ethan Gray's Evokation is now up in the form of a WordPress blog:

Check it out. In a nutshell what this is, is using cellphones to get information out regarding various topics, such as general education, and in my case how to treat water using just the sun and some plastic bottles.
Check it out ;).

Xenophobia in South Africa - Learn 7

The fact is that this is by far the most likely event to break out iin South Africa. It has already happened twice (although with less severity the second time), and it will most probably happen again. The most probable cause of it is the crippling rate of poverty in South Africa.

Now I'm sure you're wondering what I mean by xenophobia? You probably know that the dictionary xenophobia means fear of foreigners. However in South Africa it has a different, more sinister…

The Future Of Money - Coke Bottle Lids

Matin Dyer has already put up a post regarding the experiment that we conducted. Go check it out - it's called The Future Of Money - My transaction.

Done that? Good. Now, my comments on the 'experiment'. Martin covered most of the experiment very well. However, I feel he left out one very important part. You see the thing which Martin left out when he was writing his post, is that at our school Coke Bottles (NOT Coke Bottle lids) are already a de facto…

IMAGINE9: Who would I mobilise?

Basically the first thing you need to do in a pandemic is get reliable medical information out. So this means one of two things in my mind. It either means that the media has to give out the facts in an easy to understand and factual way (this means instead of sensationalising the situation and making it worse).

So the first thing I would do is call all the major T.V networks and newspaper companies, and see if they would co-operate. Failing that (although preferably concurrently)… Continue

By 2094 the entire world will be globalized. No indigenous knowledge. Sad face.

When I'm a hundred years old, there will be no indigenous knowledge. The way I see it, by 2094, there will be no more countries, or the countries differences will be so negligible as to be not worth mentioning.

We are already moving towards having bigger countries with one centralized culture. Whether this is a good thing is up for debate, but it is undeniable that is it is happening. And I believe it will continue happening. To the point where the entire world is globalized. In such… Continue

IMAGINE6: HIV in women South Africa

http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/fight-aids-empower-women-in-south-africa/

Thats my project. A project I am proud of. The project that could have saved my life. It's too late for me. I got HIV before I really knew how easy it was to get it. I'm still strong at the moment, but I could die at any time really. Thats a sad thought for me. But a happy thought is that although my life is gone, I… Continue

IMAGINE4: W DAY

For World Water Day 2020 we are gonna do something awesome, something mindblowing, something world changing. What everyone who participated in the event would do would be twofold. The first part would be to pay an entry fee of R40 or $5. All of this money would go to various charities or organizations that help bring water to third world, underdeveloped countries. If there was a major marketing push, the money created by this alone could be an amazing amount. The second part of the project… Continue

IMAGINE5

Hello this is Paul Freund speaking for Citizen X news, and boy is it sure crazy here down it Philanthropolis. For those who are unaware of what Philanthropolis is, it is the first town that has not ounce of cash in the town at all.

Everyone does thier job, be it farming or doing the books.

Everything is supplied for, and the wh*** town is entirely self-sufficient.This is important, as in previous attempts at a town like this, the wh*** project has failed when the outside… Continue

IMAGINE3

In 2020 I will be celebrating Mothers day, like it will be tommorow. We will go to breakfast early on and get a nice meal from a restruarant that is powered totally by a generater which operates from the own waste the restruarant generates in the form of food waste. After that we go back home to bask in the glory of life. When we get home we turn the lights on, and they are powered by awesome wind turbines 600 km away. It is godlike.

Amen to that.

IMAGINE2: My meal

In 2020 on my dinner table I hope to find a meal that is made mostly from cheap synthetic foods. The beef on my plate, looking so tender, will not be made from the slaughter of an innocent cow. It will instead by a subsitute that tastes and smells exactly like beef, but is not. The mash potatatoes on the side of the beef will be made from potatoes that were grown in my backyard garden. The vegetables on the side, broccoli and cuc**ber are a similar story. The plate we are eating on is fully… Continue

Water Crisis - The LiffeStraw

So in response to the water crisis issue personally I believe the LifeStraw is the one device that could make the biggest difference.

In essence, the LifeStraw is a water purification device. But what sets it apart is its price. It really is an amazing piece of technology. Now. I could go typing forever about it, but there is an article on Gizmodo that does it better than I really ever could. Go read it now please :).…

Me in 2020- How should we make a change at a young age.

I'm still behind... Oh well :D

Anyway, me in 2020 - should be a fun topic.

In 2020 I hope to be studying at a university, and not much more to be honest. I'm 16 at the moment and although I'm trying to do something to make a difference such as outreach programmes an such, it's frustrating with the lack of difference that you can make at this age.

At a university will this change? Can you make a difference there? I don't know, but my feeling is that it would be a… Continue

Provide skills, not just finished technologies

Hey guys,

I'm a little bit behind obviously.

So, lets get started.

This was my obvious 'secret' that I chose, and I think it's very interesting.

Look, the fact is, is that to most people in Africa all fancy technology means nothing. These people have virtually nothing, a lot of the time they are struggling to survive. Technology does not help them!

We need to provide skills, that will elevate people up. Be this just farming, or higher end skills, THIS is… Continue

Aubrey Meyer is an amazing man and you have never heard of him.

Ahem.

Aubrey Meyer. You have never heard of him I can almost guarentee ('scuse the spelling).

Aubrey Meyer is one of my idols. He is a musician, an extremely skilled violinist, and that immediately attracted my attention, as I play the Viola. But Aubrey, who used to live where I do in Cape Town is one of my idols. He gave up playing professional music to try and save the world. Now, I'm going to let this blogpost on the Guardian talk a lot more eloquently than I…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
