In the best case scenario, by 2020 I have started and sold an entrepreneurial venture, and can then have the cash resources and time to be free to work on initiatives of my own choosing, whether or not they provide a suitable income. My ideal scenario in the year 2020 would also involve speaking and consulting on innovation (social and for-profit organizational) to individuals and organizations who can benefit from my knowledge, and the knowledge I have yet to acquire.

I am choosing to follow Hugo Van Vuuren who (search poptech.org), along with his colleagues, is working on a microbial fuel cell that would let us create power from simple dirt. Such a technology would allow people living in very remote areas to generate poweer necessary to perform basic tasks. While the amount of power available may be minimal through such a technology (at least by developed world standards), the availability of some power at all would be simply transformational for those…

"Don’t fight culture"
Dr. Ruby Payne wrote a book called "A Framework for Understanding Poverty". In it, she tells the story of a very poor family who receives a refrigerator as a gift from a church.
